Spotify announced that it's testing a new feature where artists can promote their NFTs within their profile on the platform. The audio streaming company hopes to have this new option up and running for a "very small group of artists." For interested users, this feature is mainly available for those throughout the United States using Android devices.
How it works is users can preview NFTs via an artist's profile page; from there, they can tap or click through a selection and pick the one they wish to buy from external marketplaces.
What's nice to hear is that Spotify states they won't be taking a cut at all from NFT sales. All proceeds will go to the artist. The goal here that Spotify is hoping to reach is helping artists deepen their connection with fans.
In an official statement, a Spotify spokesperson states, "Spotify is running a test in which it will help a small group of artists promote their existing third-party NFT offerings via their artist profiles. We routinely conduct a number of tests to improve artist and fan experiences. Some of those tests end up paving the way for a broader experience, and others serve only as an important learning."
